What a Day! Forest Kids Day Barbecue a Tremendous Success
What a fantastic day in downtown Forest!
The Forest Curling and Social Club was thrilled to be part of Forest Kids Day on Friday, August 28th, with our barbecue fundraiser supporting the Forest Curling Youth Program. On a beautiful summer day, with a light breeze blowing and the unmistakable smell of hamburgers and hot dogs filling the air, our community came together to make the day a spectacular success.
And what a success it was...
Over 160 hamburgers and more than 100 hot dogs were sold, with proceeds going directly back to the Forest Curling Youth Program. These funds will help provide much-needed equipment and supplies for our young curlers, including curling shoes, brooms, tournament prizes and other program essentials.
It Takes a Community
An event like this doesn't happen without an incredible team behind it.
From setting up tents and tables, preparing equipment and grills, cooking hundreds of hamburgers and hot dogs, taking orders, serving food and keeping everything moving throughout the day — so many wonderful volunteers stepped up to make it happen.
This truly was a team effort.
A huge thank-you goes out to everyone who volunteered their time, donated equipment, supplied grills, helped with setup and cleanup, worked the barbecue, or simply pitched in wherever they were needed. The support from the Forest community and members of the Forest Youth Curling Program was absolutely tremendous. We couldn't have done it without you!
Curling Under the Summer Sun!
Of course, what would a Forest Curling Club event be without a little curling?
Our inflatable curling rink was set up downtown, giving kids the opportunity to grab a rock, have some fun and try their hand at curling — right in the middle of a beautiful summer day!
The response was spectacular. Kids had a chance to experience a little bit of what makes curling such a great sport, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles, laughter and enthusiasm throughout the day.
A Special Thank-You
Katie Thompson, Youth Director, would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported this wonderful initiative and the Forest Curling Youth Program.
“Thank you so much to everyone who came out, volunteered, purchased a meal, helped behind the scenes or supported our youth program in any way. Your generosity and enthusiasm mean so much to our young curlers. We are incredibly grateful to be part of such a supportive community.”
The Forest Curling and Social Club would also like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who came downtown to Forest and supported the barbecue. Whether you bought a burger, enjoyed a hot dog, brought the kids to try curling, volunteered for an hour, or simply stopped by to say hello — you helped make the day special"
From the first burger on the grill to the last curling rock sliding down the inflatable sheet, it was a wonderful example of what can happen when a community comes together.
Thank you, Forest!
